The
City Council is composed of Mayor
Gary Strack and four Council
Members: Ross Turner,Toni Parkins,
and John Leach, and elected by
the citizens of the City of Corning as their representatives
to make the legislative and policy decisions of
the City, subject to the provisions of City Ordinances,
Resolutions and the Government Code and the Constitution
of the State of California.

The City Council appoints the City Manager who
serves at their pleasure and who implements Council
Policy. The Mayor and City Councilmembers also
represent the City at official functions and in
relationship with other organizations.
The Mayor is elected by the voters every two years,
and the City Councilmembers are elected for four
year terms that overlap with the Mayor's term.
Elections are held in November in even numbered
years (2002, 2004, etc.). The City Council meets
at 7:30 pm on the second and fourth Tuesdays of
each month in the City Council Chambers at City
Hall, corner of Solano Street and Third Street.
